- What do I have to do when my child is sick and the office is closed? For any EMERGENCY please call 911 or go straight to the nearest Emergency Room. Call our office - (337) 422-6240, if you are Bayou Health holder ,you'll be directed to Nurse Hotline according to your plan. If you stay on the line you'll be connected to on-call Doctor. The On-Call doctor will give you advice, but medication can not be prescribed from phone call encounter.
- What do I have to do when my child has colds? There is no recommendation for cold medicine for kids under 4 years old. Otherwise, please get tylenol (Acetaminophen) or Motrin/ Advil (Ibuprofen) for fever control by following the dosage directed on the box.
- What do I have to do when I need a prescription when the office is closed? We encourage you to call during the office hours so your child medical record can be checked out. The On-Call Doctor has limitation in prescribing medicine from phone call encounter.
- What do I have to do to get a referral to other specialist? You need to be seen in the office so that the reason of referral can be established and you can be referred to the appropriate specialist.
- How can I get a copy of medical record or medical excuse? For medical record copy required by court of law, please let your attorney contact us. If it is for other medical office, we need a written consent to release records and we will send it directly to the office directed. For a copy of medical excuse: Unfortunately, we can not give you any copy due to the risk of forgery that was brought up by Truancy Department, so please do not lose your medical excuse once it's given to you.
